To Boston and Beyond (Quickie)

By seanhughley

I know I know, the new header I’ve put up is not that glamorous or eye catching (quite frankly it’s pretty ugly), but these are really my shoes and feet, and it’s symbolic in an un-artistic sort of way.

I started a six week training program today to run a 5k .  It will be my first 5k since high school which was (gulp)… a decade ago.  The program was taken from www.runnersworld.com which you should check out if you like running at all.  Lot’s of good tips, work out programs, current racing news, product reviews and the list goes on.

The workout was awesome!  Today I started with some speed work.  I ran 6 – 400’s at race pace  (which is 6 minutes per mile) plus a warm up and cool down.  While I’m in Denver I definitely plan on getting out to the mountains to run a couple times.  There’s also a club in downtown Denver that runs and then hangs out and has drinks and appetizers afterwards that I might try with a friend.

If anybody wants to help sponsor my journey to Boston, I’m looking for a good bike to do some cross training.  I went out looking last weekend and they are rediculously expensive.  So if anybody feels like getting rid of a good bike at a good price (that lives in Iowa), leave a comment.

P.S. To give you some background I’ve been running hard for three weeks before today to start easing back into running (It’s been a while)  For the first two weeks I ran about 2 miles 3-4 times a week.  Last week I upped it to 3-4 miles for 5 days and now I’m starting a program.  I won’t bore you with details like this often, but figured you should know where I’m starting at.
