Being A Forerunner
Have you noticed that not many people like extreme temperatures? Not many people enjoy extreme heat, and not many people enjoy the bitter cold. You’ll find even fewer people who can bear both extremes and don’t mind if it’s cold or hot. Why do I say this? Thanks for asking. It’s because being a forerunner is an extreme, like a below freezing winter morning, or a hot and humid summer afternoon. Have you ever heard the saying, “Christians shouldn’t be thermometers, but thermostats?” A forerunner doesn’t blend in, they set the temperature, they beckon people to a higher standard of living, and inspire dreams to come forth. This is not a validation for the weird and abnormal, but a truth about real burning and shining lamps. Forerunners are disruptive to the staus quo. If your standing still, you have time to tell the temperature, and it will most likely bother you (been there), but if your running you don’t really notice the temperature because your creating it. Your life is a witness in and of itself, that the heart can be more fully given to God, that there is something more than what we have touched.
